THE FACE BEHIND THE NAME

It has been written that the creation of something new is accomplished not by the intellect, but by the instinct. Just as artists have created new artistic movements to translate the beauty in their mind’s vision, so Christopher Guy Harrison has approached the design of his products to fashion a unique furniture brand that is not easily described by today’s conventional terminology.

When Christopher set out to create some of the world’s finest designer furnishings it marked the start of a long journey. “In every culture, decorative heirlooms define a nation in much the same way as its music, poets and writers do... or at least did,” says Christopher. “Furnishings were the last in a line of cultural elements from architecture to fashion to gain an international identity. Elegance, sophistication and grace have always transcended cultural boundaries; the objective has been to transfer this into distinct decorative furnishings.”

Born in Britain, raised in Spain and France, and now residing in Singapore, Christopher’s international background helps him view the world through a critically constructive eye that draws on everything he admires to show that furnishings are about composition and symbolism. His designs embody refinement and sophistication, fusing classicism with modernism, all the while exemplifying a consummate elegance with grace and clarity.

Originality in design is achieved via a mastery of materials and an attention to detail derived from fine European and Asian craftsmanship, all infused with an innate simplicity. “The finest and most enduring designs tend to be simple in their execution,” says Christopher.

Believing that a room is about a dialogue that creates an ambiance out of individual elements, tradition holds conversation with the contemporary in Christopher Guy’s harmonious designs. A singular vision and uncompromising sense of style have driven him to continually redefine the aesthetics of design, and the rewards are a place at the forefront of the international luxury home furnishings market. “We are thankful for what we have achieved to date,” says Christopher, “in part because so much of life is unplanned. You chance upon something, you react to the opportunity, not always sure where it is going to lead you.”
